📖 Literature 📖
Books, comics, non-fiction, and so on go in here.
I've always been a voracious reader since youth! Though that often means that I'm going down a non-fiction rabbit hole and reading various articles about historical medical cases or torture devices.
I also like funny pictures that go with the words on the page. Hence, comics and mangos are considered literature too. Sorry to all the grade school teachers who are bad that their kids are more interested in comics than tiny words cramped on a page. We got reading disorders!
Favorites!
Comics- Arkham Asylum - Grant Morrison & Dave McKean
- Black Hole - Charles Burns
- Cable and Deadpool - Fabian Nicieza & Mark Brooks
- Deadpool - Joe Kelly & Ed McGuinness
- Killing Joke - Alan Moore & Brian Bolland
- Loki - Rob Rodi & Esad Ribić
- Silver Surfer: Requium - J. Michael Straczynski & Esad Ribić
- The Residents: Freak Show - Various Artists
- All Yesterdays: Unique and Speculative Views of Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Animals
- Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers
I cannot say that the musician bios I've read are "good" in the sense that they're well written or honest! But they are entertaining! They're fun to weave together and compare different perspectives on the same situation, and influential to how I want to depict character personalities.
Biographies- Alice Cooper's Me, Alice
- Gene Simmon's Kiss And Make Up
- Motley Crue's The Dirt
- Paul Stanley's Face the Music: A Life Exposed
I think high school killed my drive to read fiction for fun tbh. That's what happens when your force kids to do things under threat of eternal damnation!
Like I've read plenty of books during school! The Great Gatsby, Ragtime, Catcher in the Rye, Song of Solomon... but can I say they're my favorites? Real hard to associate anything positive with high school. Maybe that's why these books are all from like. Elementary and middle school LOL.
Fiction- Bud Not Buddy
- The Giving Tree
- Goodnight, Moon
- Hop on Pop
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar
